WealthStar is a glass-box screener. Every number on the site is a description of what price, trend and positioning are doing right now — computed the same way for every stock, and updated once a day after the NSE close. Nothing here is a prediction or a recommendation. This page explains exactly how each measure is built so you can judge it for yourself.
We rank the Nifty 500 combined with the current NSE F&O underlyings — roughly 500 names. Relative strength is ranked across this whole set. Names that also trade in F&O carry an extra layer of futures and options data (we call it Positioning View); names outside F&O are shown on price, trend and strength alone. You can scope the screener to All, F&O only, or Non-F&O.
RS is a percentile rank from 1 to 99 built from each stock’s trailing 3-, 6-, 9- and 12-month price performance, blended and then ranked against the rest of the universe. An RS of 92 means the stock has out-performed 92% of its peers over the last year. It measures leadership, not whether a stock is cheap or expensive. On a stock’s page the RS line — its price divided by an equal-weight index of the universe — shows the same idea over time; a rising RS line means it is out-performing peers.
Every stock is placed in one of four stages, read from its 30-week (150-day) moving average and that line’s slope: Stage 1 Basing, Stage 2 Advancing, Stage 3 Topping, Stage 4 Declining. Stage 2 — price above a rising 30-week line — is the classic uptrend. We also track how long a stock has held its current stage, which is how the “New Stage-2 entries” group finds names that crossed above a rising 30-week line within the last couple of weeks.
The Setup tag is a plain-English read of the entry picture from price and trend. Breakout = pushing the 52-week high; Pullback = eased back to a still-rising 10-week line inside an uptrend; Extended = strong but stretched far above its lines; Slipping = a pullback that has lost its 10-week line; Holding = a healthy uptrend with no fresh trigger; Watch = basing, or advancing but not yet leading. These describe geometry — the chart still has to confirm, and a label is never a buy signal. Extension % (how far price sits above the 30-week line) and the 52-week range position give the same context numerically.
For F&O names we read the futures market’s own positioning: long buildup, short buildup, short covering or long unwinding, derived from the change in price against the change in open interest, plus the basis. On the options side we solve implied volatility from the option chain (a Black-76 model), and report ATM IV, the market’s implied expected move, put-call ratio and max pain. These are numbers about what the derivatives market shows — a second, independent lens on whether a price move has positioning behind it. They are descriptive, never a signal to trade options.
Each stock is mapped to one of 16 sectors; the sector board ranks them by the median RS of their members and shows week-on-week rotation. Market breadth — the share of the universe above its 30-week line — is our gauge of how broad the trend is (above ~60% is broad participation; under ~40% means most stocks are already in downtrends however calm the index looks). The daily movers page tracks what changed since the prior close: stage transitions, fresh breakouts, and names reclaiming or losing the 10-week line.
Prices are end-of-day from the NSE via Kite Connect. The full analysis — RS, stages, setups, breadth, sectors, and the futures/options snapshots — is recomputed once each day after the close and written to our database; the site reads from there. Figures can be delayed and are for study, not for real-time execution.
WealthStar is a screening and analysis tool, in the same category as a data provider or charting service. It does not give buy or sell calls, price targets, curated “top picks”, model portfolios, or any claim about future returns. A group is simply a filter with a name — a description of what is true today. When we say a stock “moved from Stage 1 to Stage 2”, that is a fact about the past; it is not a suggestion to buy. We are not a registered investment adviser and nothing here is investment advice. Markets carry risk; please do your own research or consult a qualified, registered adviser before making decisions.
